The Mediating Effect of The Perceived Marital Support on the Relationship between Early maladaptive schemas and Adult attachment style

Abstract

|
This study attempted to examine the mediating effect of the perceived marital support on the relationships between early maladaptive schemas and adult attachment styles among married couples. The subjects were 345 married people recruited from the whole South Korea. The correlation analysis showed statistically significant correlations among early maladaptive schema, adult attachment and perceived marital support. The perceived marital support showed a partial mediating effect on the relationship between early maladaptive schema and adult attachment. The structural equation modeling analysis was performed, and the study model’s fitness indicated that the partial mediating effect model was accepted. Finally, based on the study results, the implication and limitations of this study were discussed and the suggestions for further studies were recommended.
